We erect system and tube-and-fitting scaffolds, supply mast climbing platforms and transport platforms for façade work, and build temporary roofs that keep a site working through winter. Every structure comes with a handover certificate, weekly statutory inspections recorded in the register, and a design calculation where the configuration falls outside the standard tables. Dismantling is booked at the start so the last trade is not waiting for us.

About us

Access Contractors Rather Than Equipment Renters

The company was founded by a scaffolding supervisor and a site manager who had spent years watching projects lose weeks because access was treated as an afterthought: a scaffold designed by eye that could not take the load of a re-roof, a mast climber ordered without checking the ground bearing, a structure erected on a Friday and inspected for the first time three weeks later. We work as an access contractor — surveying, designing, erecting, inspecting and striking — rather than dropping tube on a pavement and leaving.

Everything begins with a survey. Ground conditions, cellar voids, pavement crossings, overhead cables, the loads the structure will actually carry, the trades that will use it and the sequence they need it in are all recorded before a quotation is written. Non-standard configurations — cantilevers, bridges over entrances, loading bays, temporary roofs and anything above the tabulated heights — are designed and calculated by an engineer, and the drawings and calculations are issued with the handover.

Our crews are directly employed and certificated for the systems they erect, and they work to a written method statement for each job rather than improvising. Every structure is handed over with a certificate, tagged at each access point, inspected weekly and after any high wind or alteration, with the results entered in the register kept on site. When the work finishes we strike promptly, because a scaffold left standing for three weeks after completion is a cost to the client and a liability to us.

Surveyed Before It Is Quoted

Every job starts with a site visit recording ground bearing, cellar voids and vaults under pavements, drainage runs, overhead cables, tie positions available in the façade, pedestrian routes and the loads each lift will carry. That is what separates a quotation that holds from one that grows by thirty per cent once the crew arrives. Where a client has drawings we check them against what is actually there, because the number of buildings that match their own record drawings is smaller than anyone would like.

Designed and Calculated Where Required

Anything outside the standard configurations — cantilevered lifts, bridges over entrances, loading towers, birdcages inside occupied buildings, temporary roofs, structures above tabulated heights or carrying material loads — is designed by an engineer with calculations, drawings and a specified tie pattern. The design pack is issued before erection and handed to the client at completion. It is also what allows a principal contractor to demonstrate compliance without a three-week argument with their own safety adviser.

Inspections That Actually Happen

Structures are handed over with a certificate, tagged at every access point with the date of the last inspection, and inspected every seven days as well as after high winds, impact or any alteration. Reports are entered in the register kept on site and copied to the client the same day. Tags are changed at each inspection so that anybody stepping onto the scaffold can see its status at a glance, which is more use than a file in an office nobody visits.

Mast Climbers Where They Beat Scaffold

On a tall, flat façade a pair of mast climbing platforms will out-perform a full scaffold on cost, programme and productivity, because materials go up with the crew and the working height adjusts to the task. We assess which is the better solution honestly rather than defaulting to whichever we own more of, including cases where a hybrid — scaffold at low level, mast climbers above — is the right answer. Installation, statutory examinations, operator training and dismantling are included in the package.

Struck When the Work Finishes

Dismantling dates are agreed at the start and confirmed a week ahead, and our crews turn up. A scaffold left standing after completion costs the client hire, blocks the site, irritates the neighbours and occasionally attracts a break-in through an upper window. Adaptations during the job — a lift raised, a bay removed for a delivery, a bridge added over a new entrance — are carried out within two working days and recorded in the register rather than done informally by another trade.

Neighbours and Permits Handled

We apply for pavement and road occupation licences, arrange lighting and traffic management where a structure crosses a footway, fit protective fans and debris netting, and write to neighbouring owners where ties or oversail affect them. Public liability cover is carried at a level principal contractors accept without discussion. On occupied buildings we agree working hours and access routes with the residents beforehand, which prevents most of the complaints that stop a job.

What We Supply and Erect

Scaffolding, mast climbers, temporary roofs, edge protection, inspections and design.

System and Tube Scaffolding

Façade scaffolds, birdcages, staircase towers, loading bays, cantilevers, bridges and independent structures in both modular system and traditional tube and fitting, erected by certificated crews to a written method statement. Boards, guardrails, toe boards, brick guards, debris netting, sheeting, fans and hoardings are included in the specification rather than quoted as extras afterwards. Hire periods run weekly after an initial four-week term, with adaptations priced in advance.

Mast Climbing and Transport Platforms

Single and twin mast climbing work platforms for façade renovation, cladding, rendering and window replacement, plus goods and passenger hoists for taller projects. Supply includes ground preparation advice, installation, tying to the structure, commissioning, statutory thorough examination, operator familiarisation and dismantling. Platforms are serviced by our own engineers, and a breakdown is attended the same working day because a stopped platform stops the whole elevation.

Temporary Roofs and Encapsulation

Free-spanning temporary roofs that let re-roofing, structural repair and restoration continue through winter, with rolling sections where materials must be craned in, and full encapsulation in sheeting or shrink wrap for blasting, painting and asbestos work. Every temporary roof is engineer-designed for wind and snow loading at the specific location, and the calculations are provided with the handover pack for the client's own records.

Edge Protection and Safety Systems

Roof edge protection, stair and void protection, safety decks and crash decks, pedestrian tunnels and gantries, propping and needle systems where a façade needs support. We can also supply and inspect harness anchor points and provide rescue plans where work at height requires them. These packages are frequently the difference between an insurer accepting a method statement and sending it back for revision.

Inspection and Compliance

Statutory weekly inspections, post-weather and post-alteration inspections, tagging, and the maintenance of the register on site, all copied to the client. We also carry out independent inspections of scaffolds erected by others, which building owners and insurers commission where a structure has been standing for months or where the original contractor is no longer available. Reports are issued within twenty-four hours with photographs and a clear list of defects.

Design, Surveys and Estimating

Engineered designs with calculations and drawings for non-standard structures, ground bearing and vault assessments, tie testing on historic façades, and full access strategies for projects at tender stage where the choice between scaffold, mast climbers and rope access changes the programme substantially. We are happy to produce this work for contractors who intend to use another erector, charged as a straightforward professional fee.
